Indianapolis Diesels : Owners' Meeting In Chicago, Illinois

This past Saturday, Premier Basketball League held its 10th annual owners meeting in Chicago. Chairman of the league Dr. Sev Hrywnak kicked off the meeting reflecting on the past 10 years and commenting on the current state of the League as well as the outlook for the upcoming 2017 campaign. Dr. Hrywnak stated, “With our 10th season coming up we are looking stronger than ever as America’s source for minor league basketball.”

The afternoon portion of the meeting saw announcements on new television partners, statistical systems and new video platforms for the 2017 season. All of these new additions to the PBL will help enhance the overall fan experience both live at the game or watching at home. The PBL plans to hold another Owners Meeting in late October to discuss more on what the upcoming season has in store.

Dana Hunsinger Benbow, dana.benbow@indystar.com

First, he made a private appearance at a Carmel retirement home. Then he paired up with Gene Keady at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. And last month, he made political waves appearing with Donald Trump in Indiana.

Finally, legendary Indiana University basketball coach Bob Knight is going solo — for a public show —

The fiery coach, who led the Hoosiers to three national titles during an IU career that spanned from 1971-2000, will headline a show June 16 at the Murat Theatre at Old National Centre.

Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday and cost $35, $45, $55 or $200.
The show will start with a meet-and-greet with the coach for 40 guests (the $200 tickets), who also will get signed photos. The public show will include a "motivational speech" by Knight on his coaching days and philosophy, followed by a question-and-answer session.

INDIANAPOLIS STAR
Oh, the many layers of Bob Knight

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Victory Sports Education Program, which promotes the benefits of exercise, proper diet, physical fitness and wellness to encourage local Indianapolis area youth to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Tickets will be available at the Old National Centre box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, OldNationalCentre.com, Ticketmaster.com or by phone at 1-800-745-3000.

Monday April 4, At 7:00pm At Jonathan Byrd's Fieldhouse At Grand Park 200 E. 186th St.
Premier Basketball League Weekly:

We are just two weeks away from the 2016 playoffs! This week we have every team in the northeast scheduled multiple times, to find out which teams really deserve a playoff spot!

Our games start this Thursday evening with a double-header, with game one sending the WNY Thundersnow to take on the Providence Sky Chiefs at 7 PM. Every game matters for Providence, while the Thundersnow look to finish the season strong heading into next season. Our second game of the double-header has the Jamestown Jackals heading to face the Rochester RazorSharks at 7:05 PM at Blue Cross Arena. Can the Jackals and Michael Davenport steal a victory on the road against Rochester to help their playoff chances?

We have a lone game Friday night at 7 PM with the Chautauqua Hurricane taking on the Jamestown Jackals. The Jackals have a short turnaround after playing Rochester the night before, but this is another must-win for the Jackals.

This Saturday we have two games starting with the New England Shamrocks taking on the Rochester RazorSharks at 1:05 PM on the road. The Shamrocks did not play last weekend and should be very well rested as they look to secure the #2 seed in the Northeast playoff seeding. At 7 PM Saturday evening, the Jamestown Jackals are back in action on the road against Buffalo. This will be the third game in three days for the Jackals, which means three victories can potentially bump them above Buffalo for the third seed after this weekend.

This Sunday evening we have a double-header with the Shamrocks of New England back in action against the Providence Sky Chiefs at 4 PM. The Sky Chiefs have an uphill battle to reach a top #3 seed in the Northeast but every game counts. At 6 PM this Sunday evening, we have a rematch between the Buffalo 716ers and the Jamestown Jackals. This will be the second contest between the two in two days, and the fourth game for Jamestown in four days this weekend. Jamestown has a great opportunity to propel themselves into a lock for the playoffs just two weeks away.

The Midwest has a double-header of play this Sunday, starting at 4 PM with the Indianapolis Diesels taking on the Kentucky Mavericks. While the Diesels are for sure locked in for third place in the Midwest, every match-up prepares these teams for a potential playoff meeting. Our second game also at 4 PM is the Lake Michigan Admirals taking on the Danville Riverhawks.

The weekend closes with a Monday night game between the Indianapolis Diesels and Lake Michigan Admirals at 7 PM. This is a potential preview of the first round matchup in the playoffs.

Week 13 is upon us fans! We have a very exciting list of games this weekend as playoffs near, and each and every game has a stipulation!

Late Defense Fuels Indianapolis Win Over Lake Michigan 101-92

By Nathan Pace
Indianapolis Diesels Reporter/ The Southsider Voice

The Indianapolis Diesels rallied from behind to beat the visiting Lake Michigan Admirals 101-02. Indianapolis won on the defensive end as the Diesels shut the Admirals down in the final minutes. Nursing a 92-91 lead, Indianapolis would close on a 9-1 run.

The Diesels had to win keep pace with the Admirals for second place in the Midwest division and it didn't look good at the start. Lake Michigan controlled the first quarter with a 36-26 lead.

Indianapolis would cut the lead to five at halftime and took its first lead of the game on a 6-0 run to start the third quarter at 55-54.

Forward Jermaine Dearman led Indianapolis with 24 points and 20 rebounds. Cameron Miles would score 23 points with Brandon McGee and Harry Marshall contributing 17 and 16 points.

Nicholas Waddle and Anthony Spencer led the Admirals with 24 and 23 points respectively.
